About MapMC and Minecraft

Is MapMC affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft?: No. MapMC is an independent third-party tool, not affiliated with Mojang Studios or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Studios.
Do I need to own Minecraft to use MapMC?: Yes. MapMC generates .mcworld or world folder files. You need a licensed copy of Minecraft Java or Bedrock Edition to open them. Visit minecraft.net to purchase.
Can I use MapMC worlds in commercial projects (YouTube videos, streams)?: Yes — the world files we generate are yours. Note that displaying Minecraft gameplay is subject to Mojang's brand guidelines for monetized content. See www.minecraft.net/usage-guidelines.

How long does generation take?: Usually 1–5 minutes. A region under 22 km² completes in roughly 2 minutes; the 250 km² maximum can take up to 5 minutes.
What's the maximum area I can generate?: 250 km² per world. We may raise this in future versions when worker capacity grows.
Bedrock or Java — which should I pick?: Bedrock if you play on Windows 10/11, Xbox, PlayStation, mobile, or with friends across devices. Java if you play the original PC edition. Bedrock outputs a .mcworld file; Java outputs a world folder.
Why is my generated world mostly empty?: MapMC uses OpenStreetMap data. If the area you picked has sparse or no OSM coverage (rural / unmapped regions), the world will mostly be terrain. Try picking a city instead.
Can I edit the world after downloading?: Of course — once you have the .mcworld file, it's a normal Minecraft save. You can edit, build on top of it, share it, or import it into a server.

Is there a subscription?: No. MapMC is one-time top-ups. You add credit to your balance, then spend per region. Balance never expires.
How does pricing scale with area?: $3 flat for tiny regions (up to 0.2 km²). It scales smoothly to $5 at 3 km², $10 at 22 km², $15 at 100 km², and $25 at the 250 km² max.
What's the first-time bonus?: Your first top-up gets bonus credit (e.g. $9.90 → $15.00). Returning top-ups get a smaller bonus or none. The bonus is shown on the /pricing page.
What happens if generation fails?: Worker errors trigger automatic refund within 24 hours — credit goes back to your balance. You'll get an email notification with the failure reason.
Can I get a refund on unused balance?: Yes, within 14 days of your top-up, if no jobs have been spent. Email support@mapmc.app. After 14 days, balance is non-refundable but never expires.

What data do you store?: Email and name (for login + email notifications), top-up history, jobs you've created, and generated files. We don't store payment details — Stripe handles all card processing.
How long are generated files kept?: 90 days from creation. Save the .mcworld file to your own machine if you want to keep it forever.
Can I delete my account?: Yes. Email support@mapmc.app with the subject 'Delete account' from your registered address. We remove your user record + generated files within 7 days. Audit log is retained 6 years for tax/legal compliance, but contains no PII beyond your user ID.
