Minecraft The Sift is playable in Dungeons II; its Java and Bedrock release is planned for 2027. Check which game you use before following an access guide. MapMC recreates real-world places for Java or Bedrock and does not provide The Sift or a Dungeons II map import.

This is a source-based guide checked on October 13, 2026. It explains the confirmed access concept and release status, rather than claiming a playtested unlock walkthrough.

Mojang's Dungeons II launch announcement confirms the September 29, 2026 release. The Minecraft Live recap separately places the Java and Bedrock Sift update in 2027. The sources checked for this guide do not give an exact date, version number, or portal recipe for that future update.

Check the full game name on your launcher or store page. Minecraft Dungeons II is a separate action RPG; Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition are the sandbox games. The Dungeons II versus Minecraft comparison helps if you are unsure which one you own.

How do you enter The Sift in Dungeons II?

Mojang's Minecraft Live recap describes rifts appearing across the Dungeons II world. Entering a rift transports the player to The Sift. This describes Dungeons II access; it is not a block recipe for a Java or Bedrock portal.

To find the right information without mixing games:

  1. Confirm your game is Minecraft Dungeons II. If the launcher says Java or Bedrock, use the future-update section below.
  2. Follow your current in-game quest and map. The official gameplay systems guide explains the interconnected regions, navigation map, and main and side quests.
  3. Use a Dungeons II guide that matches your current quest when you need a particular unlock. This page does not verify a first-rift location, required level, or complete quest sequence.

Once you can access a rift, the expected destination is the Dungeons II Sift. If a video instead asks you to build a portal out of blocks, first check whether it shows a fan mod or a different game. A shared Minecraft setting does not make their instructions interchangeable.

What is planned for Java and Bedrock in 2027?

The Sift is announced for both Java and Bedrock, alongside the Overworld, Nether, and End. The inspected official announcement gives a year, not a complete release or access specification. Keep the distinction between an announced dimension and a feature you can use in your installed stable game.

For a Java 26.3 world today, use the current Java 26.3 update guide. Its Dappled Forest and Abandoned Camp changes should not be read as The Sift release. For a future Sift update, first check the official notes for your Edition and installed version.

Before experimenting with a mod or development build, keep an independent copy of your world. Follow safe world upgrades: test the copy, save, exit, and reopen it before relying on it. If the copy fails or changes unexpectedly, return to the original. Do not download an unverified world or mod simply because its title promises early access.

What can MapMC generate or find?

MapMC Generator turns your selected real-world area into a Java world ZIP or Bedrock .mcworld. These files belong to their matching Minecraft sandbox Edition. They do not unlock The Sift, import into Dungeons II, or recreate its regions. The world import guide explains how to open a generated map in the correct game.

MapMC's Seed Map supports the versions and targets listed in its interface. The Sift is not a current Finder target, and a real-world area selection is not a seed for that dimension. Choose Generator for a real place, Seed Map for its supported seed tasks, and Dungeons II for the released Sift adventure.

Minecraft The Sift questions

Is The Sift a mod?

The Sift in Mojang's announcement is an official dimension. A similarly named fan mod or video is a separate project. Check the author's requirements and see mods, add-ons, and resource packs before installing anything.

Can I use a Dungeons II portal recipe in Java or Bedrock?

No Java or Bedrock portal recipe was verified in the sources checked for this guide. Dungeons II rift access does not establish how the future sandbox dimension will work.

Can I download a MapMC map to enter The Sift?

MapMC downloads are real-world maps for Java or Bedrock. They do not supply a Sift world or access to Dungeons II. Keep your map file and game Edition matched when importing.

Will this guide change after the 2027 update?

The release status and access guidance should be rechecked when Mojang publishes Edition-specific release notes. Until then, the exact date, version, and sandbox entry method remain unverified here.
